I did some research on Reiki just recently, and this link explains how Reiki started: http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2009/0…

“Reiki is definitely not supported by any scientific evidence, and it is definitely not based on Christian religion. Rather, it’s based on Eastern mysticism… In fact, there are a great many similarities between reiki and faith healing. I refer my readers back again to a famous reiki website to show why. There, I found a concise description of the history of reiki “from the horse’s mouth,” so to speak. There you will learn about Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of reiki. It turns out that Dr. Usui’s quest to learn how to heal was inspired by Jesus himself when as a student he asked his master if he believed that Jesus had healed. He answered yes. Dr. Usui then asked him him how Jesus healed, and he was forced to admit that he did not know. According to reiki practitioners, this led Dr. Usui on a spiritual quest lasting decades to find out how to heal as Jesus did. This quest ultimately culminated in 1922, when, like Jesus, Dr. Usui engaged in fasting and praying on a mountain in the wilderness, described thusly:

After a few more years of study, he felt he had come to an understanding and that to go further required serious meditation. He went to a nearby mountain declaring his intention to fast and meditate for 21 days and that if he did not come back they should come and get his body.
He went to the mountain and settled in with 21 stones with which to count the days. On the 21st day nothing had come as yet, and he turned over the last stone saying “Well, this is it, either I get the answer today or I do not”. At that moment on the horizon he could see a ball of light coming towards him. The first instinct was to get out of the way, but he realized this might just be what he was waiting for, so allowed it to hit him right in the face. As it struck him he was taken on a journey and shown bubbles of all the colors of the rainbow in which were the symbols of Reiki, the very same symbols in the writings he was studying but had been unable to understand. Now as he looked at them again, there was total understanding.

After returning from this experience he began back down the mountain and was, from this moment on, able to heal. This first day alone he healed an injured toe, his own starvation, an ailing tooth and the Abbots sickness, which was keeping him bedridden. These are known as the first four miracles.”

The transference of spirits can happen during Reiki healing – it’s the demon of the ‘Shakti’ touch and has been going on for centuries. Here is a link that answers the question, ‘What does the Bible say about energy healing / energy medicine?’ http://www.gotquestions.org/energy-healing.html

When Jesus instructed his disciples to heal the sick, raise the dead and drive out demons, he said “Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8) This is an important principle in deciding whether healing is from God or not. Finally, please ask yourself if this healing does not come from God, then where does it come from?

  6. I want to start a Reiki business at home but was wondering if a license is necessary? If I have a Reiki certification is that enough to start a reiki practice in San Francisco?

From what I know, I may either need a massage license, a business license, or both.

Reiki is a form of energy healing which deals with what is called touch therapy. Although it is completely different from Massage, there are some similarities.

Simply speaking, Reiki is from a Japanese energy healing system where the giver taps into universal energy (rei – life force, ki – energy). The aim is to affect changes in the body’s electrical energy layers to help encourage the body to return to state of health. The human body is electrical and is surrounded with various energy layers. Reiki is no more absurd than the electro-chemical communications that happen between the body’s neuron transmitters.

Energy work has been used throughout history by various cultures – Babylonians, Incas, Celts – but the current westernised Reiki is based on the Japanese school of healing.

It is not advisable to learn Reiki over the internet for free and there are many reasons for this. Firstly, Reiki is an holistic school of thought, recognising that body, mind and emotions all are interrelated and you cannot affect change in one without considering the others. If you feel this is not the case then it may not be the thing for you. Reiki, like other skills, has a value which should be recognised. It is unlikely that any free Reiki training online is of any value to you. Secondly, many students undergo some personal changes when embarking on Reiki training, and it is important that you have the support of an experienced trainer and tutor who you can contact whenever you need to.

It may not be possible to ‘put positive energy into others’ using Reiki – one of the common theories of Reiki is that it is the recipient which draws the energy through the practitioner so, even with every every good will in the world, if a person is not open to receiving the energy then there is little you can expect to do.

If you are interested in Reiki, think of booking yourself a treatment with a practitioner that has been recommended to you by someone you trust. It is important you experience it for yourself before considering training.

I’m in the Roseville/Royal Oak area of Michigan and I’m looking into Reiki, but don’t want to try just anyone out of the book. Does it really work? What is a fair price for a session, and how long should a session be?

A session should cost approximately the same amount as a massage, whatever that is where you live. Around here it’s $1/minute.
A whole-body session should be 45-60 minutes. More than that and it’s too much. You can do a whole body session energetically in less time, but a big part of the session is the relaxation aspect.
Ask other people who have had sessions who they went to and if they liked that person. Go to new age or pagan stores–they might have someone on staff or someone who comes in once a week and does sessions. If not, they will know someone personally to recommend. Those same stores will have little free holistic health magazines with Reiki people listed. Usually if someone is professional enough to pay for advertising, they are pretty good. They should have no problem talking to you on the phone for a few minutes to see if you like them. Good luck.

I’m looking for expensive reikis like reiki tummo. Or expensive metaphysical systems like Tenaga Dalam Ilahi. I know that how much a reiki costs is not an accurate display of how good it is. But yet and still, I ask this question.

  14. I’m looking at ways to help fight with anxiety attacks. I’ve heard that Reiki might be beneficial. With my limited knowledge, I have seen sessions where the healer cleans your energy. Can I simply get Reiki CDs that will essentially do the same? Any recommendation?

  15. New Age bulls—t. Spend your money on things that work, not placebos. Or if your position is ‘what’s wrong with placebos” I can respect that–but there are a lot cheaper placebos to experiment with—like meditation at home, for instance. Costs nothing and you can be taught in 15 minutes.

Don’t give your money to these scammers, please!

Reiki is where you channel the UNIVERSAL Energy (positive Energy) and
Qi Gong is where you channel your OWN Energy.

In both techniques, the energy is used to balance your chakras and to give you a better physical, emotional, mental & spiritual health.

I don’t know which is better as both techniques – when used properly and on a daily basis – give excellent results.
    I use both :
    Reiki for meditation, relaxation and a healthier me;
Qi Gong before doing my daily exercices in order to be healthier too.
Both techniques relax and make you feel balanced and happy.

    Hope this helps
    Edit :
Reiki :you can have a Reiki treatment by a Reiki practioner or a Reiki Master or you can learn and become a Reiki Level 1 practioner after being attuned by a Reiki Master. Level 1 gives you the ability to treat yourself.
Qi-Gong asks for very slow movements and has to be taught by a Master or someone who knows how to practice Qi Gong correctly to ensure that you do it properly and progressively otherwise you may feel uncomfortable and sick.
