i am looking for some inspiration on what to have for tea, i am sick of doing the same stuff every week, and am looking for a cheap, easy, nice tea can anyone send me there ideas please
this weeks menu in my house was tacos, chicken and mushroom with rice, silverside and veg, fish and chips with salad
I am an aspiring writer, but I can’t seem to get any inspiration to write! I have alot of good ideas (mostly from day-dreaming in class
but I can’t get them onto paper.
Do you think that I am just not meant to write?
I used to have that problem, and I finally found something that works for me:
1st: Always set aside a fixed amount of time to work on writing on a consistent basis. Then WRITE. It doesn’t matter how bad it is; you can re-write later.
2nd: Re-write things in spare time.
3rd: For inspiration, I listen to soundtrack CDs. Lots of them. try to imagine them as the soundtrack to your own story. Doesn’t have to be chronologically correct; the point here is to build a story. There can be mutually exclusive stuff (ie, two characters hate eachother, but the two characters love eachoter and get married) iot doesn’t matter. Inspiration, not a set story. Then write that.
4th: I’ve never done this, but I heard about it, and I’m guessing it would work… If you get deep into a novel then get writer’s block… set your alarm clock for some ungodly hour like 2am then get up, start writing for half an hour, then go back to bed. See what you have in the morning. Chances are, it’ll be a disaster, but it will supposedly probably give you some inspiration… in a weird sorta way. Like I said, never tried it so I don’t know if it really works, but supposedly some famous authors do this.
5: MOST IMPORTANT ONE: I learned this in a book on writing. NEVER TELL ANYONE YOUR STORY! When I read that, I thought “why the heck not?” The reason is this: when you have a good story, you feel compelled to tell it. Once you’ve told it, you no longer have that driving desire. Once you’ve told your friend the plotline (enough to have told them the “story”) then you no longer have the subconscious urge to write it. I thought that was a bunch of nonsense… until I actually noticed it happening with myself.
I used to “start” novels all the time. I think I went through about 10 or more false starts. At the moment, I’m almost finished with my second novel in a trilogy (waiting until all 3 are done before I even BEGIN to conssider the vague hope of publication) and I personally know an author who’s getting his first three books published this year, who, from what I understand, does similar things, as far as regular time intervals and listening to music goes. Again, what works will probably vary from person to person, but maybe this will help.
Good luck!
When im inspired (Usualy by reading my fravorite books about people i greatly respect) i get motivated and do great things, but often the inspiration leaves and gets weaker over time, but then will come back.
How do you stay inspired?
LOL, WRONG CATAGORY
I get inspiration from within. I don’t think I’ve ever been inspired by another person before.
But then again, I’ve been a socially avoidant recluse since I was twelve so that’s not really working out for me.
I have always loved creating art. I have times that I progress very quickly and have so many ideas and inspiration that I can barely keep up. However I also go through phases where my work hits a plateau and i don’t know how to escape from it. This is when I lack inspiration and don’t know what to make. It’s similar to writers block and It can be very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas how to get past a plateau period in creativity or find good inspiration?
Painters block, “plateau” is a usual state for all aspiring artists.
Music can be a good way to inspire you, my teacher at school once told me to go somewhere like a park and walk bare foot, close your eyes, visualize, use your nose and ears to smell and hear things to get a visual of a scene, this helps to find your inner muse.
Fair enough it sounds crazy, but it helps.
This is something I’m curious of. I may or may not want to be a story write one day. I haven’t really decided yet. A lot of authors say they take inspiration from things but I’ve also seen plenty of books that are just rip-off’s. Here’s an example of what I mean. One person might take inspiration from Lord of the Rings and another might rip it off. I don’t read a whole lot so sorry if I sound ignorant. What’s the difference between the two?
Inspiration is where you take a shadow of an idea, give it a twist, then use it. Ripping-off is where you take an idea, bones, flesh and skin, and use it without much change and try to pass it as your own (aka. plagiarism).
Like, if you found a rusty, old wagon. Inspiration would be taking a wheel to put in your own wagon. Ripping-off would be greasing the wheels and new paint and saying you built it yourself.
(I love figurative language.) Hope I helped…
What served as inspiration for 19th century programmatic music?
Would it be things such as nature and a newfound nationalism?
Thanks for the assistance!
There was use of:
- Greek mythology, — Beethoven Overture “Creatures of Prometheus”;
- some ancient religious leaders. — Richard Strauss, “Also spracht Zarathustra (a tone poem);
- Bizet delved into French folklore — L’Arlesienne Suite
- Smetana was nationalistic – see “The Moldau” about the river that begins serene enough and winds its way through the countryside, then becomes a raging torrent. It’s very well depicted in his composition.
- Many composers chose religious subjects: Haydn “The Seven Last Words of Christ” (not sure if title is correct).
- Liszt is overflowing with programmatic music. Check Wikipedia for the list, the most famous being “Les Preludes” (stages of a man’s life).
- Debussy is so romantic with his “Nuages” and “Sirens” programmed music.
… and the list goes on …
I’ve read so many beautiful poems, but don’t find it easy to put so much depth and emotion into my own.
Where do you go to find such inspiration?
i find i get a lot of inspiration from looking at pictures.
try going to deviantart.com and looking through some of their stuff. there are so many talented artists on deviant art so it’s very likely some of their pieces will inspire you
simply looking out of your window can help you. take in the world around you.
xx.
I like to take more interesting, sort of cute like pictures.
Ya know, the pictures you see that have a sort of warm, vintage feeling. Like something somewhat simple. But I’ve had a problem lately with ideas and inspiration. Are there any photographers that have some good ways of finding inspiration? Thank you ahead of time :]
i like to look through the work of other photographers on http://www.flickr.com
i usually get some pretty good ideas there.
Today was great, I got my guitar amplifier plugged in (its been collecting dust for 3 months now), I played some music, and was planning on practicing drawing.
Then I ate some greasy pizza and drank a few beers and now I’ve lost all motivation and inspiration. I almost never want to do anything and earlier today I did, but now I feel as though I ruined it. How do you get back up after such a downfall if you ever have one?
Wait until the poison your put into your body is washed out. Drink lots of fluids (not beer), eat plenty of fruits and veggies, go out for a jog and plug back in.
I’ve tried taking a break and just walking or driving around, but I can’t seem to generate any inspiration for good fantasy story ideas. Any advice?
First of all, keep writing. It doesn’t matter what you write about. Write a description of a street sign, or a dialog of a mother, her daughter and a dog. Just keep writing, so when insperation does hit you, your writing chops will embrace it and develop it.
Second of all, try doing and observing different media. Music, TV, movies, poems, art, performance art, politics, comedy, etc.
Third, write a list of unexpected things that might be in someone’s car. Make up a story about that. It might not be the story you are looking for, but it might inspire the story you are looking for.
Fourth, Go see an awesome historical sight and listen to the guide. Soak in awesomeness. Consider what is epic.
Fifth,
Surf youtube for someone in the age range of your target audience which talks about some opinon.
Search youtube for the Davos question. Ask yourself what sort of fantasy setting would highlight this question and if there was some fantastic element like what some of the pepole suggest is the answer in it, how do you think the story would play out given there is someone who might have the qualities to be heroic and do the right thing?
Watch some Ted Talk lectures on Hulu. They help consider different amazing things about the world. It is real fantasy. Take some of the messages and consider them the norm for your fantasy world, then write a story about it.
Sixth, consider a theme. Perhaps some issue that you have been having problems working out. Perhaps even being stuck creativily. Give each part of the issue a charector to advocate and a power similar to the issue.
Seventh, look for conflict in opinon, court cases, at the breakfast club, the local civic group which has no leaders and consider how that might develop in a fantastic setting.
Eight, investigate anthropology issues and social issues that make great term paper topics. Maybe read through a bunch of term papers.
